Angello sweet and seedless pepper wins FLIA Award 2012

The sweet-tasting Angello seedless pepper, presented by Syngenta Seeds B.V. from the Netherlands, was honored with the FRUIT LOGISTICA Innovation Award 2012.

With its conical shape, this sweet pepper is about 10 centimeters long, can weigh up to 30 grams and is offers a crunchy bite. The Angello sweet pepper, which is a good source of vitamin C, is cultivated in Spain, Israel and the Netherlands, and is sold in snack-size bags.

“I’m very proud to have received this award,” said Angello breeder Benny Nir during the award ceremony. “I want to thank my colleagues and managers for their support in the development of this product.”

The second place, as determined by trade visitor votes, was awarded to the Lovemysalad.com interactive website developed by the Dutch company Rijk Zwaan. The website lets salad enthusiasts from all over the world find recipe suggestions and information about salad products.

Third place went to the Achacha fruit, commercially grown in Australia but with origins in the Amazon Basin in Bolivia. The Dutch company Bud Holland B.V represented the fruit.
