ChemChina moves step closer to acquiring Syngenta

ChemChina and Syngenta have received approval from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and the European Commission for the proposed acquisition of Syngenta, a global crop solution company, by ChemChina.

The companies have also received approval from the Comisión Federal de Competencia Económica in Mexico (COFECE) for the proposed acquisition.

Both approvals represent a major step toward the closing of the transaction, which is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2017, according to the companies.
