Koch Biological Solutions to collaborate with Pathway BioLogic

An affiliate of Koch Biological Solutions, LLC has acquired a minority equity position in, and entered into collaboration with, Pathway BioLogic, LLC (Pathway). Pathway provides biological plant health solutions, with a specific focus on live microbial products. The company has several products in the market focused on enhancing plant health including PowerBlend, PowerCoat and BioPath, according to a news release. Pathway’s products are supported by strong fermentation and formulation capabilities, the company said.

With the acquisition of certain assets of Mendel Biotechnology, Inc. in December 2014, Koch Biological Solutions established a strong discovery platform focused on the identification, development and commercialization of biostimulant products, according to the company. Combined, the two entities represent a compelling set of capabilities that will collaborate to bring new biological solutions to the marketplace, the news release said.

“Working with Pathway allows us to continue building our product development capabilities and establish a strong commercial presence in the market,” said Bill Boycott, vice president biologicals and origination for Koch.

“Pathway’s success is driven by the quality of our people in rallying around a common vision and mission to continue to innovate and develop biological solutions to increase crop productivity” said Michael Gans, director of operations for Pathway BioLogic. “By leveraging our fermentation and formulation capabilities with Koch’s discovery platform and commercialization capabilities, we will create an extremely efficient process to build an industry leading portfolio of science based microbial products.”

Additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.
