Produce supply chain participants asked to complete survey

The Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI) is asking businesses involved in any aspect of the produce supply chain to complete a short online survey by April 5.

The purpose of the PTI, sponsored by the Canadian Produce Marketing Association, GS1 US, Produce Marketing Association and United Fresh Produce Association, is to help the industry make the most of current traceback procedures while developing a standardized industry approach to enhance the speed and efficiency of traceability systems for the future. Its goal is to achieve supply chain-wide adoption of electronic traceability of every case of produce by Dec. 31, 2012.

As part of that effort, the survey will assess the extent of the industry’s adoption of PTI milestones. In most cases, the survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete, and respondents may remain anonymous if they choose. Results will be made public after they have been computed and analyzed.
