VGN names new Western editor

Great American Media Services has named David Fairbourn managing editor of Spudman magazine and western states editor for the company’s other specialty agriculture publications, including Fruit Growers News and Vegetable Growers News.

Fairbourn, of Laketown, Utah, has for the past nine years served the United States Potato Board (now Potatoes USA) as industry communications manager. There he was involved in a number of key initiatives, including print and broadcast programing, planning and executing trade show activities, education and training of food truck cooks and executive presentation development. Before that, he was the managing editor of Potato Grower magazine for three years.

Along with his duties guiding Spudman magazine, Fairbourn will be focusing on covering fruit and vegetable growing in the western United States, including attending trade shows and events and writing feature stories on growers and issues important to the West.

Fairbourn succeeds Bill Schaefer as managing editor of Spudman, who, after seven years of exemplary service to the company and industry, is leaving to follow other journalistic pursuits.

Fairbourn can be reached at 616-520-2158, or here.
