2020 Northwest vegetable crops estimated for Pacific Northwest

The USDA National Agricultural Statistical Service in February published estimates for 2020 vegetable crops from Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

Here are the estimates, as released by USDA NASS’ Northwest Regional Field Office in Olympia:

Asparagus value of utilized production in Washington totaled $23.2 million, up 9% from 2019. Washington accounted for 32% of national utilized production.

Snap beans in Oregon had a $20.6 million total value of utilized production, down 26% from 2019. Oregon accounted for 9% of national utilized production.

Carrots in Washington showed a $22.5 million value of utilized production, down 24% from 2019. Washington accounted for 15% of national utilized production.

Sweet corn in Oregon showed $41.0 million value of utilized production, up 8% from 2019. Washington sweet corn utilized production was valued at $73.9 million, down 14% from last year. These two states accounted for 32% of national utilized production.

Onion in Idaho were valued at $68.3 million, up 4% from 2019. Oregon onions had a total value of utilized production of $119 million, up 9% from last year. Washington onions were valued at $136 million, down 25% from 2019. The three states published in the Pacific Northwest accounted for 56% of the national utilized production.

Green peas in Oregon had a total utilized value of production of $5.86 million, down 15% from last year. Washington green peas were valued at $27.7 million, down 8% from 2019. These two states accounted for 51% of national utilized production.

Pumpkins in Oregon were value at $9.17 million, up 78% from 2019. Washington pumpkins utilized value of production was $16.8 million, up 8%from last year. These two states accounted for 9% of the national utilized production.

Squash in Oregon had a total utilized value of production of $6.86 million, down 15% from 2019. Oregon accounted for 10% of the national utilized production.
