Are you considering controlled environment agriculture?

Are you considering getting into indoor growing of vegetable crops? Is controlled environment agriculture (CEA) in your future?

Many growers are looking at vegetable production in controlled environment greenhouses to help meet market demand for local year-round produce. Implementing CEA production techniques provides growers with both opportunities as well as some challenges. So if you haven’t done it before, you might have a few questions.

On Oct. 26, Vegetable Growers News (along with sister publication GPN — Greenhouse Product News) will be presenting a webinar on “Understanding the Principles of Controlled Environment Agriculture.” The free, one-hour webinar will take place at 2 p.m. EDT.

The webinar will be presented by Neil Mattson, associate professor and greenhouse extension specialist at Cornell University and director of Cornell’s Controlled Environment Agriculture group.

During the webinar, Mattson will address the range of technologies (from simple to sophisticated) that can be used in CEA. He will take a look at which crops are most commonly grown and the most common hydroponic growing systems.

The webinar also will cover some of the market trends and considerations when starting a new CEA operation.

Learn more about the webinar or sign up to participate by clicking here. The webinar is sponsored by Nexus Corp. and Hort Americas.

The November issue of Vegetable Growers News will feature a special supplement, Under Control, that addresses some of the production issues CEA growers encounter.
