LGMA advisory board undergoes several changes

This summer the California Leafy Green Products Handler Marketing Agreement (LGMA) vice chairman and founding member Victor Tognazzini told the organization he was going to retire in Montana.

He was expected to take over for current Chairman Ron Ratto in two years; but he didn’t want to delay moving on.

Board Treasurer Steve Church stepped up to take Tognazzini’s place as vice chairman. Church is a founder of family-owned Church Brothers Farms with operations throughout California and Arizona. He has been involved in many facets of the vegetable industry since the 1960s and has served on the boards of several other produce industry associations including Grower-Shipper Association of the Central Coast and Western Growers.

Dan Sutton was appointed to replace Church as treasurer. Sutton is general manager of the Pismo-Oceano Vegetable Growers Exchanges (POVE) located on the central coast near San Luis Obispo.  He is currently chairman of the LGMA’s Communications Committee. Sutton is an active participant in LGMA Ambassador program and featured in LGMA’s training video “The Why Behind Food Safety.”

Ratto of Ratto Bros., Inc in Modesto continues to lead the organization.  He was appointed in May of 2015 and his term is expected to end in spring 2017.

The LGMA board welcomed two new alternate members.  Jennifer Clark of Steinbeck Produce will represent the Salinas, Watsonville, San Joaquin Valley, Kern County region.  Sharan Lanini, of Fresh Express, will represent the Imperial Valley region.
