Michigan ‘Fruit Ridge’ focus of farm auction of more than 200 acres

After decades of family farming, the Bull family has decided to retire and will be selling approximately 207 acres of prime orchard and farmland with high elevation in Casnovia Township, Michigan.

L&L Bull Farms was known for their strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, plums, peaches, apples and a large variety of vegetables. The Bull’s have hired Miedema Auctioneering to conduct their live auction.

The Bull’s Orchard is included in the Fruit Ridge otherwise known as “The Ridge.” The Ridge is a topographical land feature located NW of Grand Rapids, Michigan and considered to be an agricultural mecca. The glaciers of long ago left behind gently rolling slopes. The deposits were fertile clay loam soils with excellent moisture holding qualities that provided great soil and terrain for the growing of premium fruits, vegetables and the raising of livestock, including buffalo, according to Fruit Ridge Market website.

The Fruit Ridge is regarded as one of the prime fruit-growing regions in the world. According to Fruit Ridge Market, The Ridge supplies 60% of Michigan apples. This is an opportunity to purchase orchard farmland in an area that doesn’t become available often.

The Bull’s have been located at 16530 Hall, Casnovia, for decades with a full line up of farm/orchard equipment, hundreds of acres and migrant housing camps. The land will be selling in eight individual parcels, where it can be purchased  individually, in any combination or in its entirety. The parcels range from 1 acre to 73.8 Acres.

The live real estate auction will take place on Thursday, Dec.19 starting at 6 p.m. at the English Hill Banquet Facility at 1200 4 Mile Rd NW in Walker, Michigan. The land will sell with no minimums and no reserves.

The Bull’s will also be selling their full lineup of farm and orchard equipment through an online auction on Orbitbid.com on Wednesday, Dec. 18. Items will include tractors, sprayers, trailers, skid steers, trucks, field implements, forklift, apple boxes, plus much more. Details on the equipment can be found here.
