Through a cooperative approach, housing is being built in less than a year for accommodations of approximately 800 of Tanimura & Antle’s employees.

The company hopes that “Spreckels Crossing” will serve as an example to other large businesses in the Monterey County as housing for seasonal employees continues to be an issue, Tanimura & Antle said. T&A employees have begun to move into the fully furnished apartments in early April, with the final phase of the community buildings to be completed in June.

A formal ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration will take place later this summer.
