May 16, 2017UF/IFAS to host Regional Agri-Tourism Conference
The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension is hosting the 2017 Regional Agri-Tourism Conference on June 15 and 16. From 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on June 15, participants will visit agritourism operations in Martin and St. Lucie Counties and hear directly from the farmers about their challenges and successes.
The tour will include a reception and wine tasting at Summer Crush Winery in St. Lucie County, with presentations by local agritourism operators and an opportunity for discussion. Other operations include Fresh Shrimp USA, Ground Floor Farm and Kai-Kai Farm. Refreshments will be provided.
From 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 16, presentations will be offered to assist new and existing agritourism operations with navigating regulations, business planning, marketing your agribusiness, awareness of consumer preferences, and resources available to fund your operation. We will also have a panel discussion focused on regulations and insurance needs specific to agritourism businesses. A catered luncheon and refreshments will be provided.
It is recommended that participants wear closed toed shoes and sun protection on the first day and casual attire on the second day. The cost of registration is $75 before June 8 and $90 after. Registration can be completed on the Regional Agri-Tourism Conference’s Eventbrite page.
