Workers’ comp practices for H-2A employees is NCAE webinar topic

The National Council of Agricultural Employers announced April 13 the next installment of its educational webinar series, “Best Practices and Strategies to Avoid Common Pitfalls in Your Workers’ Compensation Program with H-2A Employees.”

“Workers’ compensation policies can be difficult to navigate, especially when trying to understand how they function for users of the H-2A temporary agricultural worker program,” said Nigel Bocanegra, manager of association services for the National Council of Agricultural Employers (NCAE). “This webinar will unpack these complex programs for agricultural employers.”

The webinar will feature two speakers with the Zenith Insurance Company: Fred Martinez, assistant vice president and Ashli Sturgill, senior safety and health consultant.

Martinez and Sturgill will review the ways in which the rules governing the H-2A program and workers’ compensation interact. Attendees can expect to learn about best practices and common pitfalls to avoid. Topics will include returning to work, medical treatment,and safety measures to consider when developing your program.

“The “Best Practices and Strategies to Avoid Common Pitfalls in Your Workers’ Compensation Program with H-2A Employees” webinar is scheduled for May 13at 2 p.m. EDT/11 a.m. PDT.

Registration will be limited to the first 100 participants. Participants will be eligible to receive one Professional Development Credit from the Society for Human Resource Management upon completion of the course.
