After first pursuing a career as an architect, McClam found his true calling as a farmer in 2009. He is the co-founder of City Roots Farm, a certified organic urban farm in Columbia, South Carolina. City Roots specializes in microgreens, culinary mushrooms, cut flowers and organic vegetables. The urban farm hosts numerous events and agritourism activities with a focus on farming education for urban youth.
