AgBiome’s Howler fungicide receives EPA registration

AgBiome’s Howler fungicide has received registration from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The first product to be marketed by AgBiome Innovations and developed by AgBiome Inc., is a biological fungicide that is highly effective against fungal diseases common to high-value crops, according to the company.

“This is great news for specialty crop growers,” said John Rabby, AgBiome Innovations commercial director. “Howler provides preventive, long lasting activity on a broad spectrum of soilborne and foliar diseases, with no special handling or storage required.”

OMRI-listed for use in certified organic production, Howler is exempt from the requirement of tolerances in the US. Howler can be used effectively at every phase of crop production with a zero-day pre-harvest interval and a four-hour, restricted-entry interval.

“Howler fights disease with three modes of action – metabolic, enzymatic and exclusion by competing with invading pathogens,” said Steve Ronyak, field biology manager for AgBiome. The active ingredient actively destroys pathogenic fungi, stops fungal development and protects plant surfaces.

State registrations are now pending. For more information, visit http://agbiome.com/.
