An examination and analysis of consumer and retail reports by two organizations recognized for their collecting and measuring of various data, will be the topic of an educational session at the upcoming Organic Grower Summit (OGA). “Organic Data Dive: A Look at the Numbers Driving Decisions on the Farm,” will provide OGA attendees an inside look at some of the data and reporting done on consumer behavior and buying of organic fresh foods.
The Organic Grower Summit, slated for Dec. 12-13, in Monterey, California, will include a series of intensive and educational sessions focused on organic growing. “Organic Data Dive: A look at the Numbers Driving Decisions on the Farm will feature moderator Robert Lambert, publisher of And Now You Know, and panelists Laura Batcha, CEO/Executive Director of the Organic Trade Association and Brian Lechner, vice president, Nielsen.
“As the availability of relevant and timely data becomes more readily available, organic growers from all sized operations have the ability to make better and more cost-effective decisions about their business. The consumer landscape is continuously evolving and having leaders from a pair of respected marketing and research organization discussing how the changes can impact those involved in growing organic fresh food items is a session not to be missed, “said Tonya Antle, co-founder of the Organic Produce Network.
Among some of the areas of discussion included are organic opportunities and supplies gaps, trends by locations across the US, and an overview on how organic and conventional items are priced differently.
The Organic Grower Summit, a joint production between California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) and Organic Produce Network (OPN), brings together organic growers, producers and processors for two days of education, information and networking opportunities with organic production supply chain and service providers.
Attendee registration for OGS is $499, with discounts available for CCOF members and government and educational members. Registration to OGS is all-inclusive, and includes admittance to the opening reception, educational sessions, keynote presentations, breakfast, and lunch and trade show floor.
Participating grower attendees have an opportunity to meet with a team of Costco buyers as part of a special “Meet the Grower” opportunity. This unique session provides certified organic farmers and grower representatives the opportunityto meet face to face with Costco organic produce, dairy, meat and wine buyers to discuss their operations and products.
Attendees also have the opportunity to purchase tickets to a pair of additional activities: the 2018 CannaBus Tour from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12 and the CCOF Foundation Dinner on Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm.
Over 60 sponsors have confirmed their support of OGS and the trade show floor is sold out.
