EFI celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Equitable Food Initiative (EFI) is celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month by highlighting the contributions of Hispanic and Latino farmworkers in agriculture.

The organization, known for its efforts in workforce development and certification, launched a campaign offering resources and stories that recognize the role of Hispanic workers, who make up nearly 80% of the U.S. agricultural workforce, according to the National Center for Farmworker Health.

EFI’s campaign provides online materials that include one-on-one video conversations with Hispanic farmworkers, insights into how engaging these workers can enhance business success, and resources to better understand their impact on food production. The initiative aims to inspire other agricultural companies to honor Hispanic contributions during the month, which runs from Sept. 15-Oct. 15.

LeAnne Ruzzamenti, EFI’s director of marketing and communications, emphasized the importance of recognizing Hispanic workers’ vital role in agriculture.

“Hispanic communities are essential to the success of our agricultural system, and their contributions often go unrecognized,” she said.

EFI hopes that other farming operations will join them in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and promoting fair treatment and safer working conditions across the industry.
