Flavorful Brands to offer Tasti-Lee field tomatoes in West

Flavorful Brands said in a Sept. 4 press release it will take Tasti-Lee tomatoes to California, Nevada and Hawaii.

Tasti-Lee brand tomatoes are round, vine-ripened and grown in fields. The tomato plant variety was developed by the University of Florida.

“With its deep crimson red color inside and out, Tasti-Lee is also a fantastic and firm slicing tomato with high levels of lycopene and very long shelf life,” according to the press release.

They are “grown and hand-harvested by a select network of exceptional and incredibly hard-working family farmers,” according to the release. The tomatoes are grown in the U.S. southeast, northwest, New York state and western Mexico, a spokeswoman wrote in an email.

Tasti-Lees have previously been available in the east. They are now available year-round in the west, including Safeway Stores throughout California, Nevada, and Hawaii, Save Mart and Raley’s Supermarkets, according to the press release. They are sold in grab-and-go recyclable packaging. Tasti-Lee tomatoes are also available as organically-grown, according to Flavorful Brands.

Flavorful Brands, which owns Tasti-Lee, is a marketing company comprising partners LHF, Marrero Ventures and Bejo Seeds.
