GFVGA seeks nominations for ag labor award

The Georgia Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association (GFVGA) is seeking nominations for the Dan Bremer Service Award.

The award recognizes individuals or organizations who have provided extraordinary service to the fruit and vegetable industry by enhancing the agricultural workforce. Bremer, president of AgWorks H2 LLC, Valdosta, Georgia, was the first recipient of the award at the Southeast Regional Fruit and Vegetable Conference in January in Savannah, Georgia.

Bremer has donated his time as a GFVGA committee chair, event speaker and overall supporter of the association, and when presenting the award at the conference, GFVGA Executive Director Chris Butts said he’s the “go-to person” for all H-2A-related questions.

The award celebrates those who advocate on behalf of both ag employers as well as those who support efforts to improve opportunities for agricultural workers.

Nominations are due Dec. 13. Nomination forms can be faxed to 706-883-8215, emailed to [email protected] or mailed to GFVGA: P.O. Box 2945, LaGrange, Georgia, 30241.

The winner will be recognized at the Southeast Regional Fruit and Vegetable Conference annual awards breakfast on Jan. 13.
