Remembering Dave Smith: Longtime Michigan Vegetable Council director and farmer
Learn about his contributions to his fellow Wolverine State growers and the state’s vegetable sector.

A native of Erie, Michigan, Smith built his career in vegetable farming after graduating from Michigan State University. He and his wife, Susan, became involved with Smith Brothers Farm, where he developed a strong reputation within the state’s vegetable and potato sectors.
Smith was a founding member of Potato Growers of Michigan, the legislative arm of the state’s potato industry, and served on the boards of the Michigan Vegetable Council and the Michigan Potato Industry Commission. His work helped shape policy and strengthen advocacy efforts for Michigan vegetable growers.
