Regional growers to hear Wisconsin researchers’ study fundings

University of Wisconsin-Madison (CALS) scientists will contribute expertise during two upcoming large farmer educational conferences that support the state’s diverse vegetable and fruit industries.

These annual events attract hundreds of participants and showcase recent research findings of more than a dozen UW-Madison CALS faculty, Extension specialists, post-docs and graduate students, along with researchers from other UW System campuses and other land-grant universities.

Participating CALS researchers include those from the departments of Agricultural and Applied Economics, Entomology, Food Science, Forest and Wildlife Ecology, Horticulture, Plant Pathology and Soil Science.

Amanda Gevens, professor and chair of plant pathology and Extension plant pathologist, says, “Our research-based faculty extend knowledge to growers across production models – sustainable, organic, conventional, and market/scale types – direct market, processing, home garden, CSA. These events provide prime opportunity for exchange of research results and farming outcomes.”
