Tessenderlo Kerley Inc. (TKI) has purchased the Surround Crop Protection business from BASF Corp., Research Triangle Park, N.C.
Surround is a patented kaolin clay-based particle film technology that protects agricultural and horticultural crops such as tree fruits, nuts and vegetables from insects, sunburn and heat stress. The product is an EPA-registered insecticide and is OMRI listed for organic use. Introduced in 1999, Surround is currently registered or approved for use in 19 countries.
The worldwide development and marketing of Surround will be undertaken by TKI’s crop protection unit, NovaSource (www.novasource.com). NovaSource is TKI’s business unit, charged with developing and marketing EPA registered pesticides for niche crop protection and specialty markets.
