Barry Bedwell: Ag Workers Could Lose Secret-Ballot Protection

Earlier this month, with little fanfare as is usually the case when a bill is “gutted and amended,” state Sen. Carol Migden of San Francisco unveiled proposed legislation (SB 180) to substantially increase penalties on employers and to change the Agricultural Labor Relations Act to allow the certification of unions based upon 51% of agricultural business’ employees signing “union representation cards.” Fresno Bee
