MDARD director elected to NASDA board

Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) Director Jamie Clover Adams was recently elected Secretary-Treasurer of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture. The election took place on Sept. 24, during the NASDA annual meeting in Lincoln, Nebraska. This is the first time in more than 20 years that Michigan’s director has served on the NASDA board.

As secretary-treasurer, Clover Adams will serve on the NASDA executive committee, chair the Audit and Finance Committee, serve as board liaison to the auditors and manage the board’s review of and action related to the board’s financial responsibilities. She will serve a one-year term.

Jamie Clover Adams was appointed by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder in July 2012. Prior to becoming MDARD director, she worked in various governmental leadership roles for nearly 25 years, including the Michigan Senate, as well as director of the Kansas Department of Agriculture from 1999-2003. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in public policy from Georgetown University.
