Belchim USA’s Spin-Aid granted 2EE classification in California, Arizona

Belchim Crop Protection USA (Belchim USA), a leading supplier of innovative crop protection products, announces that the post-emergent herbicide solution, Spin-Aid®, has received a 2EE classification for spinach grown for processing and seeding in California and Arizona. As the exclusive marketer of Spin-Aid, Belchim USA is pleased to notify spinach growers throughout these states that they are now able to take full advantage of the benefits of this effective, post-emergent herbicide, even with shorter crop cycles.

Spin-Aid, containing 15.9% Phenmedipham as its active ingredient, has been approved and recommended for the control of common, broadleaf weeds in spinach for many years. But now, under the new 2ee specification, growers who harvest spinach in approximately 45-day cycles can use Spin-Aid at a lower rate as soon as 7-10 days after seeding, giving them ample time to meet the required pre-harvest interval (PHI) of 21 days.

“This is truly exciting news for growers in California and Arizona,” says Laura Crawford, Regional Sales Manager for Belchim USA and Pest Control Advisor (PCA) in California. “Spinach growers who have been looking for the opportunity to leverage the effectiveness of Spin-Aid on their spinach crops are now thrilled that a lower rate can be used earlier in the crop cycle to control troublesome weeds while comfortably meeting the required PHI.”

“Meeting growers’ needs is central to our mission at Belchim USA,” says Tom Wood, General Manager for Belchim USA. “The testing that has been done to determine effective rates and optimal application timing to support shorter crop cycle markets has proven beneficial for our growers in California and Arizona, so now all spinach growers across the United States have an opportunity to leverage this effective herbicide.”
