Haygrove Tunnels Winners Announced

Haygrove Tunnels and Great American Publishing (The Fruit Growers News and The Vegetable Growers News) combined efforts to kick off Haygrove’s North American advertising campaign by giving away a pair of one-half-acre tunnels. Growers entered the giveaway by providing information on the size of their operation and crops produced. The winners of the tunnels were drawn March 4.

One name was drawn from the Eastern North America entrants and one from the West. The Eastern winner is Elmwood Stock Farm of Georgetown, Ky.; the Western winner is Olson Farms, Salem, Ore.

Chris Olson entered online in response to a giveaway ad in The Fruit Growers News. Olson Farms is operated by Chris, his father, Stuart, and brother, Darin. They produce 200 acres of fruit in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Chris expects to use the tunnels to protect dwarf cherries and several trail crops.

Ann Bell-Stone of Elmwood Stock Farm entered the giveaway at Haygrove’s trade show booth while attending the North American Farmers’ Direct Marketing Association’s conference. Elmwood is a family farm, producing 65 acres of vegetables and small fruit. Ann’s father, Cecil, her brother, John, and husband, Mac, market their produce wholesale, at farmers’ markets and directly to restaurants. Ann said their tunnels would most likely be used to protect tomatoes.

Both winners will receive their half-acre Haygroves in time for the 2005 season. Haygrove Tunnels are “quietly revolutionizing horticulture” and now protect approximately 4,500 acres worldwide. Visit haygrove.com or call 866-Haygrove.
