Jul 12, 2024MSU’s vegetable crop report provides updates, indicates rising disease pressures
Michigan State University (MSU) Extension has issued a crop report highlighting increased disease pressures across various vegetable crops.
In the report, MSU indicated that it will no longer include weekly weather forecasts. For local forecasts, consult the National Weather Service or MSU Enviroweather.
In terms of produce safety, MSU noted that the FDA has updated the Produce Safety Rule. Michigan growers can schedule an On-Farm Readiness Review (OFRR) to assess their produce safety risks and water systems. More details are available here.
Additionally, MSU reported that instances of toxicity are rising. Symptoms include leaf curling and burn. To mitigate, flush plants with water.
