USDA, MSU Farm Market Survey open now through end of March
Help the USDA understand the unique realities of farmers markets in your state and region, take the survey now!
USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) in partnership with Michigan State University (MSUE) has officially launched the 2026 National Farmers Market Survey to gather data on how farmers markets operate across the United States.
By contributing your voice, you’ll help ensure that the unique realities of farmers markets in your state and region are accurately represented.
This survey covers topics such as market structure, staffing, funding and vendors. The insights collected will help markets compare data, inform resources and strengthen local food systems.
The survey is designed with farmers market managers in mind:
- Questions are straightforward, requiring little or no preparation.
- All information requested is easily observable (no proprietary or sensitive data will be collected).
- Completing the survey helps build a national picture of farmers market activity during the 2025 market season.
USDA says it will keep the survey open through the end of March.
