New AI-powered offering provides new lettuce thinning option for growers

Niqo Robotics has introduced its new RoboThinner technology to the North American market, aiming to improve lettuce farming through AI-driven precision.

In a recent press release, Niqo Robotics boasted that RoboThinner uses real-time AI to selectively remove excess seedlings, promoting healthier crop growth.

“We are excited to enter the North American market with Niqo RoboThinner as our debut product. Over the past year, we’ve engaged with growers in the Salinas and Yuma regions, gaining insights into their key challenges,” said Jaisimha Rao, founder and CEO of Niqo Robotics. Lettuce thinning is an escalating concern, requiring a dependable and sustainable solution. Niqo’s RoboThinner is rugged and reliable for effortless farm operations and has been precision engineered for exceptional accuracy and speed.”

The company shared that it has the “ability to thin 7 acres per hour and operate at speeds of up to 3 miles per hour” with a field-proven accuracy of 97%. Niqo Robotics noted that this ability helps farmers increase profitability and efficiency.

The company, which has already deployed 50 units across Asia, expects farmers to see a return on investment in under two years. The RoboThinner will debut at FIRA 2024 in California this October.
