Ag labor issues focus of VGN’s free online webinar

The ability for specialty crop operations to secure a stable and reliable workforce to plant, harvest, pack and ship their products has been curtailed for a number of years.

As the industry adjusts to global market forces and awaits sensible answers from government to address the challenges, it also faces the reality that traditional agricultural worker demographics continue to evolve.

In order to contribute to the dialogue, Vegetable Growers News is sponsoring a free online webinar, “Securing Your Farm Labor Workforce.”

It will be held Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 4-5 p.m. EST.

The webinar will include the latest developments regarding the use of the H-2A visa program, updates on the Average Effect Wage Rate (AEWR), the recent expansion of joint employer liability theory for ag employers and other labor challenges faced by growers.

The webinar will feature a panel of industry experts, including labor attorneys Ann Margaret Pointer and Joshua Viau of Fisher Phillips; Michael Marsh, president and CEO of the National Council of Agricultural Employers; and Chalmers Carr, owner, president and CEO of Titan Farms of Ridge Spring, South Carolina.

The panel will be moderated by FGN Managing Editor Gary Pullano. Questions and comments from the online audience will be welcomed during the webinar.
