Aug 17, 2017BrightFarms listed among country’s fastest growing companies
Wholesale produce supplier BrightFarms was recently named one of the top 500 fastest-growing companies in America.
The 36th annual Inc. 500 list ranked the company 235th among America’s fastest growing private companies. Brightfarms finances, designs, and operates greenhouses to supply nearby supermarkets.
For example, one Brightfarms greenhouse in Bucks County, Pennslyvania, has 56,000 square feet and produces 4-5,000 pounds of produce every week that is sold in the same region where it’s grown.
BrightFarms grew 1,812 percent over the last three years, according to Inc.
The Inc. 500 is a comprehensive list of high growth private companies across the U.S., and has previously featured some of America’s most recognizable food brands, including Door to Door Organics, Clif Bar and Chobani. BrightFarms is ranked 10th among all food companies on the Inc. 500 and is the only produce company to be included in the list.
“Our long-term growth is driven by the success of our model to satisfy the rising demand for local produce in the nation’s leading food retailers,” said Paul Lightfoot, CEO of BrightFarms. “We’re thankful to our partners, particularly Giant Food (Ahold), Mariano’s (Kroger), Acme (Albertsons) and McCaffrey’s, for their commitment to bringing consumers fresher, local produce.”
BrightFarms operates three commercial greenhouse farms across the country—Rochelle, Illinois; Culpeper, Virginia; and Bucks County, Pennslyvania. It will soon break ground on its Clinton County, Ohio greenhouse and with plans to open 10-15 additional greenhouses in the next three to four years.
