Microalgae-based soil amendment now registered

Heliae Development has registered its new PhycoTerra soil amendment for use on specialty crops grown in the United States. Current registration information is available on the PhycoTerra website.

PhycoTerralogo_HeliaeAt the core of PhycoTerra is Heliae’s proprietary stabilized mixotrophic microalgal cultures, the company said. Heliae uses a unique pasteurization process to stabilize the microalgae while maintaining attributes that contribute to healthy plants and the microbiome of the soil, according to the company.

Hylon Kaufmann, Heliae business & sales strategy specialist, noted recent field trials on bell peppers, potatoes, kidney beans, peanuts and other crops that show how applications of PhycoTerra can lead to faster, stronger seedling emergence, higher yields, earlier crop maturity and improved crop quality.

For more information, including trial results, participation in the Heliae Grower Trial Program and information on where to purchase, visit the Phycoterra product website.
