Misionero celebrates second anniversary of Harbinger acquisition

Misionero, a grower in the organic leafy greens category for more than 40 years, is celebrating its second anniversary with Harbinger through continued growth in sustainability and innovation.

Combined under the Misionero name, the 2016 acquisition united a team that shares a commitment to fresh food and fresh thinking with a track record for transforming and improving the produce industry.

With support from Harbinger’s resources and expertise, Misionero is able to preserve their fundamental, small-team collaborative approach to drive productivity and ensure customers benefit from the diversity of products supplied. “We all share a belief in the value of small and medium-sized organic farms, we recognize that the work of producing food is still one of the hardest, most important and complex livelihoods – one that directly impacts every person, every day of the year,” said Vice President Pete Donlon.

Building upon a healthy eating framework, Misionero constantly works to adapt to the changing consumer tastes by setting new standards in the quality of how food is processed and packaged. Staying true to Misionero founder Floyd Griffin’s vision, the team recognizes that sustainability and cultural accountability is an essential factor in how people look at food purchases.

Through partnerships with rPlanetEarth and EFI, Misionero remains committed to improving and preserving the community while also building upon a strong heritage of respectful labor treatment. “We are holding onto the same values that Floyd instilled; it’s all about the people,” said Tom Minnich, CEO. “The ag industry has always had an incredible amount of talent. We’re fortunate to have some of the very best of these people on our team. We continue to challenge ourselves, we learn and adapt.”

Misionero President Joe Merenda looks forward to the future with Harbinger, saying “We make great products that are healthy for the consumer, that are forward-leaning in the marketplace, and we have a great team that makes the magic happen. We are at the beginning of a new generation for Misionero. We look at our past and carry that culture into the future, and are building something extraordinary.”
