Sakata celebrates Tour de Fresh 2016

On Dec. 6, Sakata Seed America’s Tour de Fresh rider Allen Satterlee presented the Galt Elementary School District of California with a brand new salad bar. Back in July, Satterlee biked roughly 300 miles of California terrain to raise funds for the Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools initiative in conjunction with Cal Giant Foundation’s annual Tour de Fresh event.

“Seeing the kids using the salad bars made my day,” said Allen Satterlee, customer service manager for vegetable seed sales. “It was nice to see the children so receptive to the fruits and vegetables.”

Sakata has participated in the Tour de Fresh ride annually since its inception three years ago, raising over $6,000 for the cause overall.

Sakata will be upping its fundraising efforts for the 2017 ride and there will be two riders participating for Team Sakata. Cristen Bonz and Morgan Howe-Cobb both work out of Sakata’s Morgan Hill headquarters and hold positions in logistics and supply chain, respectively.
