SOLIDA Herbicide Registered

Cheminova Inc. has received federal registration for SOLIDA herbicide, a sulfonylurea that is effective against a broad range of tough grasses and weeds in established tree, nut and vine crops, field corn, potatoes, tomatoes, industrial sites and roadsides.

SOLIDA will control certain annual grasses, sedges and many broadleaf weeds including marestail, mallow and fleabane.

“SOLIDA, which has rimsulfuron as the active ingredient, offers long-lasting soil residual activity in crops like grape, stone fruits, tree nuts, apples and citrus,” said Jim Barrentine, technical services director for Cheminova. “It has excellent tree and vine tolerance and won’t cause fruit scarring or injury from in-season applications.”

Mike Krull, herbicide portfolio manager for Cheminova, said SOLIDA has no spring application cutoff dates and pre-harvest intervals that range from three to 14 days, depending on the specific crop.

“SOLIDA is formulated as a 25-percent WDG (water dispersible granule),” Krull said. “Growers will particularly like the product’s easy-to-use formulation and its ability to quickly and easily mix into solution.”

SOLIDA can be tank-mixed with a wide range of other labeled soil residual and burndown products to extend residual activity and broaden the spectrum of weed control. SOLIDA will be packaged in 20-ounce bottles, with each case containing eight bottles.
