Nov 18, 2025End of an era: 2026 Farmer’s Almanac will be its last
The 2026 Farmer’s Almanac is one you’ll want to hang onto as a collector’s item. That’s because editor Sandy Duncan and editor emeritus Peter Geiger have announced this coming year’s publication will be its final edition after over 200 years.
According to a statement emailed to The Associated Press and NBC’s The Today Show, the editorial duo cites “growing financial challenges” and today’s “chaotic media environment” as the main reasons for shuttering the folksy, annual homespun mix of weather insights, gardening tips and natural home remedies.
“Readers now access information and answers differently, and the trajectory of newsstand sales made this decision necessary,” said Duncan in her emailed statement.
The Maine-based Almanacs’ older, more well-known New Hampshire-based competitor, The Old Farmer’s Almanac, will continue to publish its own eclectic mix of vegetable planting guidance and long-range weather predictions.
