Joel Viereck joins New Jersey State Board of Agriculture

Gloucester County farm operator Joel Viereck was sworn into the New Jersey State Board of Agriculture during the board’s monthly meeting.

Viereck, representing the vegetable industry, brings extensive experience from his roles with the Vegetable Growers Association of New Jersey, the Gloucester County Board of Agriculture and the New Jersey Farm Bureau.

“Joel’s vast experience as a vegetable grower and his service with the Vegetable Growers Association of New Jersey, on the Gloucester County Board of Agriculture, and with New Jersey Farm Bureau will prove invaluable in his term on the State Board of Agriculture,” said New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Ed Wengryn.

The meeting also saw Cumberland County’s Bob Blew elected president and Burlington County’s Lisa Specca as vice president. Blew, owner/manager of Centerton Nursery, has served on the board since 2023, while Specca, co-owner of Specca Farms, has been a member since 2021.

The State Board of Agriculture, comprising eight members serving four-year terms, ensures representation from top commodity groups, including nursery, vegetable, fruit and grain.
