New website introduced for MSU Plant & Pest Diagnostics

Michigan State University (MSU) Diagnostic Services has recently changed to MSU Plant & Pest Diagnostics. Our diagnostic facility was established in 1999 through Project GREEEN and since then we have served homeowners, growers, nursery and landscape professionals, agribusiness specialists, pest control personnel, county Extension and campus specialists, and regulatory agencies.

“Our team consists of highly experienced and knowledgeable diagnosticians in the areas of plant pathology, entomology, nematology and weed science,” a news release stated. “We work together to identify plant health and pest problems observed in the different commodities grown in Michigan and other states.”

“In the last 10 years, MSU Plant & Pest Diagnostics has received an average of 6,200 submissions per year. About 70% of samples are submitted to our laboratory for nematode soil analysis. The diagnostics team examines samples for the presence of insect and other arthropod pests, plant pathogens, nematodes or abiotic injury. We also offer insect and plant identification services as well as herbicide resistance screening for weeds.”
