PanAmerican Seed recently hired Luther McLaughlin as general manager of its vegetable breeding initiative.
McLaughlin will have the overall responsibility for breeding, product development, sales and marketing of the company’s HandPicked Vegetables, a collection of high-quality products for growers that supply fresh-market farms and hobby farm gardeners.
McLaughlin brings more than 30 years of relevant experience in the vegetable industry, having spent that time at Abbott and Cobb in its Pennsylvania location. He started as a field tech, and also worked in inventory management and customer service, before his most recent position as Vice President Sales and Product Development. There, he gained valuable experience in sales and marketing, working with the various channels of distribution in the vegetable seed industry.
“I am excited to join the PanAmerican Seed team, and to help develop the vegetable division to become the first choice for service, knowledge and quality vegetable seeds,” McLaughlin said in a news release from the company.
“PanAmerican Seed looks forward to putting Luther’s knowledge and experience to work to help the HandPicked Vegetables program grow,” says Anne Leventry, President of PanAmerican Seed.
Based in west Chicago, PanAmerican Seed breeds and produces of seed-raised flowers and vegetables, with research facilities in North and South America, the Pacific Rim and Europe. For more information about the HandPicked Vegetables collection, visit www.panamseed.com.
