Celery’s top times: Thanksgiving, Christmas and football

Peak football season is the third highest celery consumption time of the year next to Thanksgiving and Christmas, according to a news release from Duda Farm Fresh Foods.

Duda, the parent company for Dandy Celery, said it contributed 67 percent to national fresh-cut celery sales in 2018, a slight increase from the previous year.

“Football season continues to be one of the most popular times of the year for celery,” said Dan Duda, president of Duda Farm Fresh Foods. “We want to inspire people who may only have ever had it as a side with buffalo wings to think differently about incorporating Dandy Celery and other vegetables into traditional game day favorites to create healthier options and bring more nutrition to tailgating parties as a whole.”

Dandy Celery will continue a promotion called the ‘Dip It 2 Win It’ Sweepstakes running through January 23, which encourages healthier snacking and drives in-store sales during the peak football season.

To enhance football watch parties and drive demand of Dandy-branded celery, Duda has partnered with Weber Grill to give one grand prize winner a Weber Genesis II 435 LP Gas Grill and Samsung 75-inch Class LED Smart TV. In addition, Duda will be giving away five secondary prizes of a Samsung 55-inch LED Smart TV.

Duda Farm Fresh Foods, the parent company for Dandy Celery, is a leading grower, shipper, processor and marketer of a wide range of fresh vegetables and citrus with primary locations in Florida, California, Arizona, Georgia and Michigan.
