Registration opens for North American strawberry meetings

Registration is now open for two North American strawberry industry meetings: the North American Strawberry Symposium (NASS) and the North American Strawberry Growers Association Annual Meeting (NASGA).

Both are scheduled for March 7-10 in San Luis Obispo, California.

In its 10th year, NASS will feature strawberry growers, researchers and other industry members from around the world.

The Symposium will include two-and-a-half days of workshops, research presentations, marketing presentations, poster sessions as well as a reception. A post-conference tour is scheduled for March 10. The tour will encompass strawberry production in the region as well as CalPoly Strawberry Center’s research, training and testing facilities.

“The program committee is committed to making this a world-class research symposium for growers and scientists, and we eagerly look forward to seeing you in San Luis Obispo,” program organizers said in a news release. “Please share this with your strawberry colleagues and friends. It will be a wonderful opportunity for sharing and networking with fellow growers, researchers and members of the strawberry industry.”

California accounts for nearly 90% of U.S. strawberry production. The San Luis Obispo region features a unique coastal environment with its western Pacific Ocean exposure, moderate temperatures, warm sunny days and cool foggy nights, which make for ideal strawberry growing conditions year-round, according to the release.
