USDA price index is up for vegetables

According to the USDA, the July price index for vegetables, at 174, is up 6.1 percent from last month and 29 percent above July 2009.  Price increases during July for 
lettuce, tomatoes, snap beans, and sweet corn more than offset price declines for onions, cantaloups, and broccoli.
