Fresh Inset brings shelf life tech to U.S.

Fresh Inset, a European food-tech company, has introduced shelf life extension technology to the U.S.

The Vidre+ Complex technology aims to improve the shelf life of vegetables, and it enhances the application of 1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) across the entire supply chain, making existing packaging more effective at reducing ethylene’s impact on produce quality.

The Vidre+ Sticker, a key feature of this technology, can be tailored to different packaging types, including cardboard boxes, bags and trays. This allows vegetable growers to protect ethylene-sensitive crops like tomatoes, peppersand leafy greens during storage and transport.

With a gradual release of 1-MCP, Vidre+ helps extend the freshness and appearance of vegetables, providing days to weeks of additional shelf life. The technology, which has received GRAS status from the FDA, can be integrated seamlessly into current operations, offering a practical solution for reducing waste and maintaining vegetable quality from harvest to market.

Based in Toruń, Poland, Fresh Inset provides technologies for extending the freshness of fruit and vegetables after harvest.
